Thermographic Imaging PREP Instructions

Please read ALL of the instructions below. It is necessary to sign and acknowledge that you have read this document.

There is important information and recommended guidelines that you need to follow that will ensure that your images are accurately reflecting your condition and health.

If you have a prior cancer diagnosis and/or surgical history, please bring copies of ALL biopsy, surgical, mammography, sonogram, CT Scan and, MRI reports that are relevant to your appointment. Or, you can email these reports to Julie at ThermographicHealth@gmail.com

It is best to have your body in its most natural, relaxed state, and that nothing is on the skin for the areas that are being imaged.

You must wait THREE MONTHS after a surgical procedure, biopsies, chemotherapy, or radiation before you can schedule a thermographic study, unless your physician has requested your test sooner.

You must discontinue breastfeeding for a minimum of THREE MONTHS before scheduling your appointment.

Wait ONE MONTH after Botox injections, or laser skin treatments before scheduling your appointment.

Schedule your dental cleaning at least ONE WEEK before a Women’s Wellness or Full Body study.

5 DAYS PRIOR to the exam, no prolonged sun exposure or use of tanning beds, especially to the chest and breast areas.

Do not schedule your thermogram during menstruation or within 3 days before the start of your cycle. Estrogen stimulation and circulation are highest during this time.

Notify the thermographer if you are taking hormone replacement therapy or receiving hormones for fertility treatments.

24 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:

  • No shaving or any other types of hair removal.

  • No treatments of chiropractic, acupuncture, TENS, physical therapy, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, hot or cold pack use.

  • No physical stimulation of the breasts.

  • Refrain from any strenuous physical activity or exercise.

DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:

  • Do not exercise on the day of your appointment.

  • Please do not use or lie on a PEMF/Bemer (Physical Vascular Therapy)

  • For TWO HOURS before your scan, do not eat or drink any hot or cold beverages.

  • Avoid chewing gum before your appointment.

  • Do not use ANY deodorant, antiperspirant, moisturizer, lotions, creams, powders, essential oils, or makeup.

  • For any scheduled imaging that will include the Head/Neck, brush teeth lightly the morning of screening and avoid vigorous brushing of the gums.

  • Bathe the night before or not closer than 2 HOURS before your exam.

  • Refrain from all caffeinated drinks, smoking, nicotine gums, patches, and all tobacco products.

  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing to your appointment. Women should avoid wearing an underwire bra on the day of their breast scan.

  • Remove all jewelry, including body piercings.

  • Your hair must be pulled back and not touch your face, neck, shoulders, or back. So, please bring a hair tie, hair clip, bandana, or headband to your appointment.

  • It is advised that FOUR HOURS prior to your appointment, to avoid taking any pain medications. You must consult with the prescribing physician for his or her consent prior to any change in medication use such as this.

You will be asked to disrobe. A gown will be provided for you. There will be some time allocated for your skin temperature to adjust to the room temperature before your images are taken. A Breast Study or Region of Interest appointment is approximately 15-20 minutes. A Wellness Study is approximately 30-45 minutes and a Full Body thermogram appointment is approximately 45-60 minutes.
